The Price of PerfectionA couple in the city of Gaoling were well into a long spell of despair. The Bei Fongs, probably the richest family in the city and perhaps the whole Earth Kingdom, would be thought by most to have little to be depressed about. But Lao and Poppy's worries stemmed from their missing daughter. Their only child.
Toph Bei Fong had run away from home, seeking to escape the crushing over-protectiveness of her parents, and having found friends who treated her as what she was, not what they wanted her to be. The Avatar had sought her help in teaching him the ways of Earthbending, and she took the chance, seeing a way away from a life she hated. To be who she really was for her parents would only ever be met by their efforts to make her into their ideal daughter. She may not have been able to see with her eyes, but was by no means blind. Seismic sense let her "see" the world, and she was perfectly aware of all around her.
Her parents however, could see with their eyes, but were blind in other re
Demon's Doll(This one's a bit of an experiment pushing my own writing comfort zone regarding characterization and some stylistic matters. The subject matter is also one I've not heavily read up on, and this was initially meant to be much shorter than it was. As a result, it is somewhat clumsy in pacing, style, and writing. Please accept my humble apologies.)
Lowell hated his life. Really, he had for a long time, but now even more so, particularly because he was now stuck in a caged wagon left outside that damn cave. Like everyone else in his village, he had accepted the need for a yearly sacrifice to appease the spirit in the cave, right up until that year's sacrifice turned out to be him, completely in spite of the village going with the traditional "young girl" sacrifice up 'till then. And, as it turned out, he didn't really have any friends to vouch for him, and his family was more concerned with the compensation. Now he was trying to pry the damn thing open with all his might. The "deliveryman
A Trip through the Toy Factory (Pt. 3)Now fully plasticized, mechanized, and clothed, Kaylee Doll stood obediently on the conveyer belt that brought her to the ground floor and her last station: Training. A scrolling sign dropped down in front of her. She stared at it blankly.
"CONGRATULATIONS, KAYLEE DOLL." It said.
"PLEASE STAND BY FOR BASIC ORIENTATION."
"THE FOUR RULES:"
"1. A DOLL WILL ALWAYS SMILE AND BE KIND."
"2. A DOLL WILL ALWAYS OBEY HER OWNERS."
"3. A DOLL WILL NEVER SPEAK OR MOVE UNTIL TOLD."
"4. A DOLL WILL NEVER WANT TO BE HUMAN."
"YOU ARE A DOLL."
"PLEASE RECITE THE FOUR RULES, KAYLEE DOLL."
In Kaylee's mind, she ran through all her possible scenarios, and her only conclusion was to open her eyes, smile, and say. "A doll will always smile and be kind. A doll will always obey her owners. A doll will never speak or move until told. A doll will never want to be human."
"WHAT WILL A DOLL ALWAYS DO?"
"A doll will always smile and be kind. A doll will always obey her owners."
"WHAT WILL A DOLL NEVER DO?"

My friends used to call William "Ironman" because the first time we kissed he got a nosebleed and the taste of his blood haunted me for a long time after it. We'd only been twelve years old and apparently the anxiety spiked his blood pressure to the point of combustion... I remember that when we were forced to take sex ed a few years later we were divided into separate classes for boys and girls, in case a diagram of an ovary was too risqué and we became animalistic and started clawing at each other in our seats, but nonetheless when our teacher Ms Jacobs had explained to us what an erection was in my mind all I could picture was the blood rushing to his nose and then the slash of cranberry across my blouse.
With the idea planted in his mind it didn't take long for William's hands to start wandering, but the image persisted. Every time I thought about just letting it happen I wondered what would happen if he got too excite
